Description: “In the afternoon we arrived at Douglas which is a small town containing a few narrow streets and not many good houses [...] they have a short pier built with stone and a handsome lighthouse at the extremity” (Tour of a lady's voyage from England to Ireland, 1802, MS 05875)
A watercolour which is part of an album by Henry Read Wellbye, donors father, who is thought to have been on holiday on the Isle of Man in 1863 before his marriage.
