Moulding Plane

Description: Moulding plane. Belonging to grandfather of husband of donor ie. William James Moore (joiner and builder circa 1850, Douglas). 'N. Lilley' and 'John Elsworth/Glasgow' stamped on end. Illustration in accession register 5.
John Elsworth was a tool manufacturer who started a company in Glasgow around 1840. They were still listed around 1880. The company's products turn up frequently.
[Possibly William Moore, joiner, 14 New Bond Street, Douglas on 1851 Census, but the name is a very common one. Lilley however is far less common and there is apparently no match for N.Lilley among Manx records. The same is true for M.Andrew]
