Fish Carrying Strings
Description: Fish-carrying strings, two examples. Each consists of a length of thin rope with a neatly spliced loop in one end and a wooden peg, attached by boring a hole through one end. The end passed through the peg is also spliced. Made by Mr A.Wilson, reared in Port St Mary, among the fishing community, purely as illustrative material.
(Mr Walter Clarke, Manx Museum, suggested the rope should be tarred but this might possibly taint the fish).
For 37 years, Walter worked as a technician at the Manx Museum.
