Description: The key from Old St Matthew's church, Douglas, iron.12.193 cm overall.Formerly in possession of Mrs Garside, daughter of Mark Carine who demolished the old church and built the new one.

Old St Matthew's chuch was consecrated 1708, by Bishop Wilson and was a chapel of ease for the inhabitants of Douglas, the parish church at Braddan being more than a mile distant. The church was demolished around 1900.
