'A Trip Round the Island, August the 3rd, 1825'

Description: “Post chaises, and carriages of various descriptions, with good post horses, as well as saddle horses, may be hired in Douglas to any part of the Island, or to make the tour of it, which may be performed with ease in two days.” (Nathaniel Jefferys, A Descriptive and Historical Account of the Isle of Man, 1809, M 00904)
A satrirical political cartoon by the renowned Buck Keown who displayed his work in his barber's shop in Douglas. An open carriage with two ladies, a gentlemen and a coachman. The coachman has the speech-bubble, 'Bang up to the mark your sorts- O Capital'. The two ladies have the speech-bubbles, 'I hope my Dear Aunt you give us comforts today' and 'oh my dear child you must not do but what I desire you'. The gentleman stands and says 'You must let me have my own way mama. I will be a second Bonapart-O Capital'. Signed.
