Woollen Wholecloth Quilt
Date made: 19th century
Maker: Member of Faragher Family
Description: A red woollen wholecloth quilt, the top made of several pieces of different hand-woven red fabrics.
The quilt is backed with several pieces of dark blue linsey-woolsey fabric and is patched with blue striped and plain fabrics, especially at one end where it is hand-quilted in a zig-zag pattern in red woollen thread. The quilt appears to contain an unbleached blanket as filling with the edges bound in blanket stitch with an unbleached, hard wearing thread.
The quilt is from the home of Miss Abigail Faragher, Earystane Smithy, Arbory.
