Rushen Internment Camp plaque

Description: Second World War handcarved internee plaque. Plaque made of pine backboard (old floor board?) and five scraps of hardwood stuck (nailed) on top with applied 'beaded' edging on sides. Handcarved relief decoration on top of a crest with plumed feather, soldier and scrolls 'Virtute Tutus' and 'R. Marshall (Dr Robert Marshall). Carved on base 'Royal Army Medical Corps' and emblem, 'as a small token/to Captain Marshall/carved by Nattalie [sic]Siegmund Sept. 1941'. Made by female internee at Rushen Camp. 24.4 x 14.4 x 5 cm.
