Iron lamp from Peel
Description: Iron Lamp in Stand, Cylindrical.
Described in a Museum Trustees' Report of 1910: "the stand measures 2 1/4 in. deep by 3 in. diam and is slightly rounded at the bottom. A cylindrical foot fixed to the centre is broken off at 3 in. From the level of the bottom, projects a straight spout, of which the upper part is left open 2 in. long; opposite this an iron tag is attached for hanging the lamp on a nail. Within this outer shell stands the lamp, of exactly the same shape, having a cylindrical spout slightly longer than that of the stand, in which it rests. In this spout there still remains the 'slut' or wick. From Peel."
