Villiers Hotel cutlery

Description: Villiers Hotel silverware. Eight knives, 15 forks, eight spoons, 4 fish knives.

Named after Governor Loch's wife and one of the first hotels to open on the newly reclaimed Loch Promenade, when the Villiers Hotel opened in Douglas in 1878 it was advertised as the Island's largest hotel, with 200 bedrooms, offereing dining and afternoon teas. The building was demolished 1998 to make way for a new office block.
