Internee-made buttons

Description: A Christmas present given to C.R. Cuthbert (Camp Commandant of the Married Camp, Rushen Internment Camp, Second World War) and his wife by Professor Gerhard Bersu and his wife, Mrs Maria Bersu.
A hand decorated card with six handcarved wooden buttons on it and a handwritten Christmas label attached to card with red thread. Buttons made from wood excavated from the Ballacagan Celtic roundhouse. Small square buttons with slightly domed carved tops. The buttons have brass loop fastenings on back to attach to the clothes and these are pushed through card and are all joined and secured with a piece of wire to fasten them to card. Card has a hand drawn red and green patterned border. Card has never had button or Christmas label removed.
