Description: Satirical cartoon possibly drawn for Isle of Man Times newspaper. Possibly depicts a sergeant shouting at a recruit (Valentine?).
Although the building in the background may be Castle Rushen, the uniforms of the soldiers appear to be tropical issue, and they carry 19th century Martini Henry rifles. The illustration has instructions for insertion into three columns and it may be that this is not a cartoon at all but is in fact an illustration for a story. The caption 'To My Valentine' is ambiguous and it is not clear how it fits with what is being depicted.
