Belvedere Hotel room sign
Date made: early 20th century
Description: Belvedere Hotel room sign. Stained and varnished rectangular wooden block, originally with clear glass plate screw to front, glass back - painted in black and gold(lettering) 'Bedrooms '29-45 ' some white paint on wooden block. Glass plate with lettering missing 25-04-2005. Fixed on landing to indicate bedroom numbers on that corridor.
The Belvedere Hotel finally closed in 1988. By the 1990s various parts of the Douglas promenade were redeveloped for new office and apartment developments, including the Belvedere Hotel.
