The painting shows the liveliness of Douglas Promenade from the location of the former Rendezvous Cafe, on the corner of Castle Street and Church Road, looking along Harris and Loch Promenades towards the Jubilee Clock Tower. In the background a large plume of smoke is visible from an Isle of Man Steam Packet Company vessel about to depart. In the foreground is a blue, cast iron coin collection box for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
