Rushen Camp internee-made handkerchief
Date made: 1940-1944
Description: A white cotton handkerchief with red crocheted edging ( a narrow trim) and an embroidered letter 'K' in the corner.
The initial 'K' stands for Kathleen (donor) and has been embroidered in the same way as donor wrote the letter 'K' in her name. Made by Maria Wolters from Bremmen for donor. Maria was a civilian internee in the Rushen Camp. She was on holiday in the UK with her mother and stepfather when war broke out and was then interned. She was 2 years older than Kathleen.
