Chinese teapot said to have been used by John Wesley
Date made: 18th century
Description: Chinese Teapot, with silver spout, (said to have been used by the Rev. John Wesley, in 1777).
The donor also donated portraits of the original owners of the teapot in 1777, Arthur and Isabella Keen. The closest match would appear to be William and Isabel Keen, who were the parents of a son baptised at Marown in 1776.
Wesley made two visits to the Isle of Man, and was met by large crowds. 1777 was his first visit, and is well described in his journal.
