The quilt is predominantly cotton with red flannel, plush and woollen fabrics. The geometric design includes a central square panel made of a furnishing fabric with a pink and red rose pattern. The patchwork squares are made from a mixture of red and white dress fabrics together with blue or purple cotton fabrics and a few pieces of striped woollen skirt fabric. Small triangles of a red flannel or cotton fabric have been used on the corners of several of the squares. The side panels are a sprig pattern cotton fabric and a curtain or furnishing fabric with a nasturtium flower print design.

The patchwork top is backed with a sprig pattern cotton fabric with no wadding or quilting.

The quilt was made by the grandmother of Mrs Margaret Ann Kaighin, Ballacottier Farm, Onchan who donated the quilt to the Manx Museum.
