Wooden box impressed with seals
Date made: 19th century
Description: Wooden box with hinged lid, patterned-paper covering inside (one type of paper pasted over an older covering). The interest of the box lies in the external treatment of black wax impressed all over its surface (except the base) with impressions of seals etc. Many of the seal-impressions repeat.
(1) Crest and motto of CHRISTIAN of Milntown
(2) Bell and Allen arms
(3) Bell arms
(4) 'A.M.'
(5) Bell crest and a monogram J.C.B.
(6) J.C. monogram - Deemster John Christian 18th of Miln Town and two others not recognised as of local character.
