Description: “Many unserviceable guns, made about the time of Henry VIII are still lying up and down in the castle.” (Francis Grose, The Antiquities of England and Wales, 1773-1777, M 02523)

Painting attributed to Captain Francis Grose (antiquary and topographical draughtsman) who in 1774 made a tour of the Isle of Man with Thomas Pennant and Moses Griffith.
