Wedding dress worn by Eunice Kewley in 1871

Description: Wedding dress stated to have been worn by donor's mother Eunice Kewley of Ballaugh when she married his father William Callow, a mason, at Maughold Church on 3 May 1871. However the marriage of Eunice Kewley on this date is recorded at Lonan in iMuseum records. She was the daughter of John Kewley. On the 1851 census she was aged 6, living with her father John at the family farm, Ballaragh, of 36 acres. On the following two census returns her mother is recorded as a widow and she was running the farm. By 1861 the farm had increased to 40 acres.

Separate bodice and skirt of brown silk taffeta. Skirt altered by someone later.
