Zinc ore

Description: Described as "Laxey speltex". Consists of a thin layer of a very fine black mineral (probably sphalerite) with pseudomorphs of galena (some galenal crystals still present) and fine dolomite rhombs. A second sample is of subhedral sphalerite crystals with sparry quartz and euhedral dolomite rhombs. A third sample is the broken off part of the second sample: a mineral vein with a layer of anhedral sphalerite, a layer or brown to clear dolomite and a layer of anhedral quartz.
