Description: Portrait of a local character known as 'Old Mother Cringle'. Her real name was Mary Ann Cringle from Ireland and she was aged 74 in the portrait. Mary and her husband Frank kept the donkey stand at the bottom of Broadway in Douglas for many years. They reportedly paid £10 annually for the rental of the Donkey Stand.
