A MANX LADY ARTIST - In "Life'' of December 12th. a portrait and notice amongst the lady artists of the day appear of Miss Bertha M. Cregeen. who is the daughter of the late Dr. J. J. Cregeen. of Blackheath; and niece of Mr D. Cregeen, C.E. of this town. Miss Cregeen appears to exemplify the common idea as to the hereditary of talent. Her father was an M.D. of Edinburgh, a member of the Royal College of Physicians, and of the Pharmaceutical Society; while her uncle attained great eminence in his profession. Miss Bertha Cregeen studied one year at the Kensington School of Art, and since then under two sisters, who have studied in Paris, and whose works have been hung in several of the London exhibitions. Miss Bertha Cregeen has a special gift for portraiture. This is the first year she has exhibited at the Royal Academy it being also the first time she has sent up.
