Pier and Castle at Peel

Description: On the sketch is written: "Memorandum sketch of the Pier and Castle at Peel, Isle of Man. This castle stands in the sea on a bold and major rock. The walls are flanked with towers and enclose an irregular polygon whose area may contain upwards of three acres. They are built of Clay and Slate. Will Latham, 11 September 1815."

Sketch by Captain William Latham of Liverpool. In July 1815 Captain William Latham made a tour of the Isle of Man with Mr William Gerard Walmesley Esq of Liverpool, Mr James Leigh of Liverpool and Mr Ralph Greenough of Wigan. Latham made many sketches of the Island during his visit.
