Conglomerate

Description: Large clasts up to 5cm of very diverse rock types, including cherty limestone; greywacke; very weathered yellow-green igneous rock; vein quartz; fine red sandstone. Clasts are well rounded. Matrix is pale brown; extremely poorly sorted (fine- to coarse-grained); sub-angular to rounded grains, mostly quartz grains, plus white shelly material. Well rounded, glassy quartz grains are very obvious in the matrix. Very friable. Quaternary (probably Devensian).
