Calcite

Description: Hexagonal prisms of calcite crystals several cms long, transparent and sparry. These sit on a layer of finer, inter-locked crystals of a milky white mineral which is possibly dolomite. One face of the sample is blue-grey limestone suggesting that the crystals formed in a vug within the Castletown limestones.
