Silver Plaque from sewing machine
Date made: 1891
Description: Circular silver plaque, made from a 5/- piece, presented to Lillie Comaish of Peel Wesleyan day school, by Jos. Mylchreest Esq., for excellence in needle work, Dec 1891. Lillie Comaish was the donor's aunt Esther Anne Lillian Comaish, of 35 Douglas Street Peel who became a teacher in the UK. She married Williams, and died in 1952 aged 73. The plaque was attached to a sewing machine when presented to her.
The award was presented by Joseph Mylchreest MHK, the so called 'Diamond King' who made his fortune in South Africa before returning to Peel.
