Teaspoon from Manx Lines steamer

Description: Silver plated teaspoon engraved 'The Manx Lines' made by Collins and Co. 'The Manx Lines' was a rival concern to the IOM Steam Packet Company, styled the 'Isle of Man, Liverpool and Manchester Steam Ship Co.' sponsored by the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Co. Ltd they had two fine steamers which appeared in 1887 as Queen Victori' and Prince of Wales.
During the 1887 season a rate-cutting war ensued between them and the IOM SPco, and after the following season both companies came to the conclusion that there was not room for both; the result was that the older company took over their rival's two steamers.
