Postman's Brass Lamp
Date made: late 19th century
Description: Postman's brass lamp which has been in the donors' family for at least 80 years. It came from 'Quilleash the Chandler's Shop'. The proprietor was a relation of donors' family. Chimney and front glass broken.
William Quilleash, a chandler, was declared bankrupt in 1901. The premises were at no 3 Duke Lane, Douglas. He had been in business since at least 1886, though a George Quilleash was in business as a chandler on Lord Street in 1879 (possibly his father?).
