Memo of Peel
Date made: May 1854
Description: "The castle of Peel, above all the other ancient buildings on the Island, is most worthy of a visit from the curious. It is seated on a huge rock, detached from the mainland by a small creek." (William Bennet, Sketches of the Isle of Man by A Tourist, 1829, M 00896)
