St Patrick's Isle Pagan Lady Burial Glass Bead
Date made: Viking: 800-1265
Description: Cylindrical, cobalt blue with composite decoration comprising blue and white cables (reticella rods) applied at both ends. The centre has three applied spots of glass creating whorls, with a translucent blue matrix and opaque white interlocking curves.
Scientific analysis of chemical composition by Julian Henderson showed a content of mostly silica dioxide for the matrix (both blue and white glass).
