T- shirt produced by the Manx Motorcycle Action Group for Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT)
Date made: 2001
Maker: Manx Motorcycle Action Group
Description: This T-shirt was produced by the Manx branch of the Motorcycle Action Group, which campaigns on behalf of motorcyclists, to mark the 2001 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races.
The T-shirt shows a cartoon gnome biker, with the legend in Manx: 'Chingys Yn Ollee Sulyn Tarro Taarey Loggyr' which loosely translates as 'Foot and Mouth disease - just more bullshit'.
2001 was the only time in more than a hundred years of racing that the TT had been cancelled for reasons other than war. With Foot and Mouth disease rampant in the UK at the time, it was felt not to be prudent to allow thousands of TT spectators on to Manx farmland. Never the less many bikers still made their annual pilgrimage to the Isle of Man.
