Goatskin Box

Description: Wooden box covered in goatskin and bound with two green and two tan leather bands held by iron nails. Red seal on front - cut in two - of receiver general (Royal Arms surrounded by SIG: OFF: REG:GENER: INSULAE: MONAE: AN. 1767). Lined printed pages with dark purple stamped or stencilled design of leaf sprays super-imposed label on base inscribed in black ink 'William Scott, Isle of Man'. Base reinforced with two wooden struts. Property of William Scott, Receiver General circa 1810 and Paymaster of the Manx Fencibles.
