Rushen Camp jewellery box

Description: A yellow silk circular jewellery box with a hinged lid and button fastening. The jewellery box was made by one of the female internees in the Rushen Internment Camp during the Second World War. The box is made of cardboard covered in yellow silk on the outside and is lined with cream silk. The lid is decorated with a simple embroidered design of two cherries and is fastened with a cord loop and a button.

The donor was a member of the civilian staff in the Rushen Internment Camp who purchased and was given several craft items made by the internees.

Measurements: overall: 7 cm x 9.5 cm
