souvenir belt from Second World War
Date made: mid 20th century
Maker: unknown
Description: Green canvas belt with German wehrmacht buckle, decorated with various buttons (known sometimes as a 'hate belt'). The belt is apparently that of a Fallschirmjaeger (paratrooper) and the buttons represent British regiments, New Zealand and also a French Algerian or Morroccan regiment, as well as an Italian officer's rank star. Given the combination of buttons it may have originated in Italy.
A war Souvenir brought home by Gunner J.K.Vick, Royal artillery, a Manx serviceman from Kirk Michael.
