Internee-made shell necklace
Date made: 1940-1944
Description: A triple strand necklace made of sea shells, with a metal cylinder screw fastening. The necklace is made of tiny multi-coloured seashells threaded onto three strands of sewing thread, which are then twisted together to make a thicker 'choker-type' necklace.
The necklace was made by female internees from Avondale, Church Road, Port Erin (Rushen Civilian Internment Camp) for the donor, Mrs Elspeth Kewley.
Measurements: overall: 24 cm x 3 cm x 1.5 cm
