Description: Canon 'Demi' silver coloured camera with black leatherette patches. Serial number 662341. In black leather carrying case.
Camera given to Mrs K.Carran at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races by Naomi Taniguchi (Honda rider). Mrs Carran was Japanese by birth and came to the Isle of Man in 1952 after marrying a Manx serviceman stationed in Japan. In 1959 she became friendly with the first Honda team to arrive on the Island.
She took rice cakes and other Japanese food to them at the Nursery Hotel in Onchan as much of the food they had brought with them had spoiled.
Taniguchi competed from 1959 to 1964. This camera was not marketed before 1963 which dates the gift quite closely.
