Internee-made child's pull-along toy dog

Description: A child's wooden pull-along toy Dachshund dog. The dog is made in three jointed sections and is on wheels and with cord attached. Leather collar and bell, leather tongue and painted face. The toy dog was known as 'Bimbo'.
The donor was born at Holmfield Villas, Ballasalla in 1939, her father was a civilian Air Traffic Controller at Ronaldsway. The toy was made for her in one of the internment camps, possibly Rushen Camp. Ronaldsway was unusual if not unique in the Second World War in that it operated simultaneously as a military and civilian airfield, with each side of the operation having its own air traffic controllers.
