Hutchinson Camp carved figure (one of a pair)

Description: One of a pair of hand carved seated male figures (similar to bookends) made by an internee, prisoner in Hutchinson Camp for the donor's father, Thomas (Tommy) Johnston, a guard at Hutchinson Camp from 1941 onwards (originally he spent first six months at Mooragh Camp c.1940).
The seated male is wearing a hat and has a beard, the figure is holding a pipe in it's left hand. The figure has been stained, coloured and has a polished finish. Rim of hat has been broken and repaired.
