Hutchinson Camp wooden plaque

Description: A hand carved wooden plaque on a stand (two blocks of wood) with a pyrography, carved and stained design on both sides showing the view from Hutchinson Camp over Douglas Bay; Tower of Refuge, Douglas Head and Piers with inscription 'Douglas' on one side and 'Isle of Man' on the other. Plaque was made by an internee, prisoner in Hutchinson Camp for the donor's father, Thomas (Tommy) Johnston, a guard at Hutchinson Camp from 1941 onwards (originally he spent first 6 months at Mooragh Camp c.1940).
