Internee portrait of Dr Patrick Reel
Date made: 1940-1944
Artist: World War Two Internee
Description: A charcoal head and shoulders portrait of Dr Patrick Reel by an unknown civilian internee. The portrait was originally signed but the bottom part of the portrait was cut off (possibly to fit an existing frame) and the signature was lost. The portrait shows Dr Reel in his late 20s, early 30s and wearing glasses. Dr Reel was the Medical Officer for Hutchinson Internment Camp and for other camps in Douglas. He was still practising as a GP on the Isle of Man as late as 1959, and died in Douglas in 1986.
