German internee-made ship in a bottle

Description: A model ship in a bottle (whisky bottle from British Columbia Distillery). Made by Kurt Werner, a German internee, probably whilst interned in Hutchinson Camp, 1942. Second World War ships in bottles made by Germans are unusual. Most are by Italians, because Germans were more likely to be intellectual refugees and therefore tended to produce art.
The bottle was given to a friend with whom Werner had escaped from Germany and who was interned with him. After the friend died it was passed back to Werner's family.
In the Home Office card index there is a Kurt Werner, born 25/3/18 in Vienna, occupation clerk, and shown as a refugee. Possibly the same person.
