Description: A handcarved wooden chess piece made by Hans Schwarz, an internee in Peveril Internment Camp, Peel, in 1940-41. The chess piece appears to be the pawn and is a male figure with short hair. Each chess piece appears to have been modelled on a specific individual, possibly a fellow internee or an officer, guard.
