Onchan Camp sixpence token

Maker: unknown
Description: A brass 6d Onchan Camp token issued as Camp currency by authorities at Onchan Civilian Internment Camp during the Second World War.
A small brass token with 'Onchan Internment Camp 1d' on obverse and triskelle, three legs design on reverse.
The token was purchased as part of a set of camp currency by the donor (an ex-internee) when Onchan Camp was closed as a German, Austrian Camp and the remaining internees were sent to other camps. Sets of cancelled camp currency were being sold, one assumes as a souvenir, for 3/6 and the donor purchased a set to send to his brother, before he was sent to Hutchinson Camp.
This token completes a group of tokens previously given by Mr Steiner, an ex-internee, together with his personal papers and memoirs, which are deposited in the MNH Library and Archives.
