Ayre Silver Ingot

Description: This ingot is typical in size, cigar-like shape, weight and silver content of the kind regularly used in Viking times as trading currency/stored wealth and found before on the Isle of Man.
During the Viking Age, these ingots were used in the place of numerous silver coins as payment for goods. It contains around 84% silver. There are some scratches evident on the ingot - these were made in antiquity possibly to test the purity of the silvery.
