Description: State Certified Midwife's pendant badge belonging to donor's mother Margaret Cannell. Oval shaped, blue enamelled border to obverse. Reverse shows maker Fattorini, Birmingham and is faintly engraved 'M.H.Cannell 109516 16.9.42'. Margaret Cannell was working as a nurse during the Second World War when she met her future husband, an Italian internee. the story is written up in Chappel 'Island of Barbed Wire.'
