Description: An oval plywood plaque with pyrography design of a galleon, sailing ship at sea (handcoloured design). Handwriiten on reverse in pencil 'Ballacottier Lodge, Onchan 11th October 1942 I.o.M.'. Made by an Italian internee and given to donor's husband's aunt (donor's information: Auntie Susie (Susan Brown née Barton) often talked about her time in the Isle of Man, working as a cook in The Manningham, Douglas Promenade. And in the winter living and working on the farm, Ballacottier Lodge, Onchan. She travelled from her home town of St Helens, where she made her home again after returning in the 40s.
