Motorcycle racing fuel can

Description: Race fuel dump can. Metal can with handle and screw cap, body painted red, top part yellow stencilled 'petrol' and 'const'. Used at Manx Grand Prix (MGP) in 1930s by Jack Blyth, a founder member of Kirkcaldy & District Motorcycle Club. Found in Blyth's garage when it was cleared by club members c.2000, and offered on Ebay in 2017.
A dump can is designed to refuel racing vehicles quickly. The time taken for pit stops can be the winning factor in a race.
Jack Blyth was a stalwart of the Manx Grand Prix Races between 1932 and 1949. He was also later a car racer and a pioneer of aviation racing.
