Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) press pass
Date made: 1927
Description: A press pass from the 1927 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races, issued by the Auto Cycle Union and signed on the obverse by Colonel Madoc, Chief Constable of the Isle of Man. The reverse is hand endorsed 'Sig Renato Gassimari Gazetta del Sport'. Gassimari was an italian journalist who was covering the TT races for a Milan-based newspaper.
Italians Luigi Arcangeli and Achille Varz, riding for Motoguzzi, came second and fifth in the 1927 Lightweight TT race. Also in 1927, a fatal accident involving Archie Birkin during practice meant that from 1928, TT practices were held on closed roads.
