Description: "Snafield, the highest mountain in the Island, impeded the view to the north…an old man and young woman were gathering furze for firing, and carrying it down the mountain on their backs, the young woman was without shoes or stockings, and her feet bled very much.” (Miss Weeton, Journal of a Governess, May 25th 1812, M 08236)
A watercolour which is part of an album by Henry Read Wellbye, who is thought to have been on holiday on the Isle of Man in 1863 before his marriage.
