Date made: n.d.
Artist: unknown artist
Description: “At [St Maughold's] cross, centuries ago, the people congregated; here bargains were made, and contracts entered in to, barter in all shapes went busily on. Now [there is] no crowd; no pilgrim; no trafficker or barterer; the day dream of contemplation is alone broken by the scream of the seabird, the laugh of the village child, or the tinkle of the church bell as it calls to the house of prayer..” (Dr Robert Paterson, Manx Antiquities, 1863, M 02321)
